6 weeks

Our big guy turned 6 weeks old on Thursday! I couldn't even imagine going back to work already. Feeling so blessed that I am able to stay home for 12 weeks.
We go back to his doctor in a couple of weeks to get his 2 month shots. But so curious to see what he weighs.
In his six weeks
He can hold his head up all in his own
He can sit in a bumpo
He giggles (the sweetest noise)
He smiles with a purpose
He grabbed a toy (I don't know if it was on purpose or not)
He still eats every 2-3 hours, it's a miracle when we make 4.
He is in 6 month clothes
He makes everyday special

I had my 6 week check up today. Everything looks good! I am down 40 lbs. Only 5 more to get to pre baby weight, although I would like to lose a few more . We got to show Luke off to the office and Dr. K. They all ooohed and awwed over how big he is and looks like a toddler. Dr. K loved to brag about the delivery.
We are good! And hoping the next 6 weeks slow down.

Rash and Reflux

Oh boy what a week.
A couple of weeks ago we narrowed Luke's fussiness during nursing down to reflux. The doctor started him on Zantac with some improvement. Well his spitting up started to increase.
Around his 1 month checkup, he had a rash that appeared on his trunk area. It seemed like a non specific allergy rash. I started to eliminate dairy from my diet since that is the number 1 baby allergy from breast milk.
On Friday, the rash spread to his legs and arms. And his spitting up hit a peak. I called the doctor and she came out to have a look at him.
Well evidently he takes after his daddy more than just looks. He also has his Dad's awful allergies. So we started in 3 days of oral steroids and 7 days of topical. Well rash is all better and all gone for the most part.
For the past 48 hours have strictly pumped and bottle fed, and his spitting up is 10x better.
So now I have the question if we are going to continue this routine or not.

But I really just care that he is feeling better!

1 Month!

Time really does fly when you are having "fun". Fun may be in the eye of the beholder.
Our not so little guy had his one month check up on Friday. He is weighing in at 12.3lbs and measuring 23.5" long. He is growing like a weed! Everything looks great with him. He does have a non specific rash on his torso that we think may be food allergy related. So I am cutting out dairy to start with, and hopefully that will help my sweet boy. His reflux seems to be getting a little better. We still have some rough days but in general we are seeing plenty of improvements.
Luke is more and more alert everyday. So far he seems to be a fairly serious kid. We only get sneaks of smile while he is sleeping. He gives the best cuddles. Luckily for mommy and daddy, his err moments are during the day, so he goes back to sleep quickly night. Which is good since we are waking up every 2-3 hours.
Luke did go through a growth spurt this week needing to eat every other hour!!! Boy were we both tired by the end if those 3 days!
Needless to say, this month has been such a learning experience for Luke, Sour and I. But we are trying make memories everyday, and cherish these moments. Sour and I are trying to power through the exhaustion.
Thank you, God, for this blessing.

Trippin'

Road tripping that is. Luke and I headed home to Texas this weekend. To say I was nervous about the drive, would have been an understatement.
Luke doesn't always quite make more than 2 hours in between each feeding and my drive home is a little less than 2.5 hours.
On Friday, 2 people came to my rescue to help watch Luke in the morning so I could take a shower, nap, pack, and load up the car. The plan was to fees him then get him good and asleep then throw him in the carseat and then throw him in the car. And it worked like a charm! He slept the entire ride!
Luke got great snuggle time with plenty of people this weekend. He met new people and got to love on his great grandmother.
It was so nice to get out of the house and see my family. It had been since the first of November since I had been home.
The ride back almost went bad. Luke didn't eat great and I couldn't get him to sleep. Everytime I put him in the carseat he went nuts. But finally, I decided to try it out and see if he would settle down once we started driving. And luckily he did. He was asleep by the end of the drive way.
We got ourselves a good car rider!
